FAQs
Why is my child not eligible under Medicare's CDBS?
There are a few reasons why your child might not be eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS):
1) Age: The CDBS is available to children aged 0 to 17 years. If your child falls outside this age range, they won’t be eligible.
2) Medicare Eligibility: Your child must be eligible for Medicare. If they aren’t registered or don’t meet Medicare’s eligibility criteria, they won’t qualify for CDBS.
3) Family Benefits: Your child must receive or be part of a family receiving certain government benefits, such as Family Tax Benefit Part A. If your family isn’t receiving these benefits, your child won’t be eligible.
4) Annual Cap: The CDBS has a cap of $1,095 over two consecutive calendar years. If your child has already reached this cap, they may not be eligible for additional services under the CDBS until the next period.
If you’re unsure about your child’s eligibility, you can check with Medicare directly, contact us for assistance, or visit this link for more information.
Fissure Sealant/ “Superhero Shield"
At A & A Smiles, we believe in taking every step possible to protect your child’s teeth from cavities, and one of the most effective ways to do that is with dental fissure sealants. Molars, especially in children, have deep grooves and pits that can be challenging to clean thoroughly, even with the best brushing habits. These grooves are the perfect hiding spots for food particles and bacteria, which can lead to decay and cavities over time. Dental fissure sealants are a simple, pain-free solution that acts as a protective shield for these vulnerable areas. By sealing off the grooves, sealants create a smooth surface, making it much easier to keep your child’s teeth clean and healthy. The procedure is quick, non-invasive, and can save your child from more complex dental treatments in the future. In essence, fissure sealants are a long-lasting barrier that helps preserve your child’s smile by preventing cavities before they even have a chance to form. It’s a small step in their oral health that can make a big difference in the long run.
